TSG search for Liberty in private emails

This is slightly old news, but I hadn't seen it before so maybe it'll still be news to some other people too. The Times ran an article two weeks ago which states that "Police who arrested the Conservative frontbencher Damian Green trawled his private e-mails looking for information on Britain's leading civil liberties campaigner" (Shami Chakrabarti, director of Liberty). This is a pretty shocking piece of news, and lends a lot of weight to Mr Green's earlier statements about his arrest being 'a significant step towards a police state'. Ms Chakrabarti was in no way involved in the reasons given for Mr Green's arrest, and was never questioned or otherwise contacted by police regarding it - this seems to have been a completely unrelated fishing expedition by the TSG. An opportunity crime, one might say.
